A Sneak Peak into the Wolves Lodge
This week at the Wolves Lodge, our preschoolers embarked on an exciting and creative journey as they begun learning to ski, expressomg their artistic skills, and exploring winter “in the mountains” their own unique ways.
The children began by crafting their own skis out of cardboard. Choosing their own colors and decorating their skis allowed the children to express their individual personalities and decision making. This activity also helped strengthen their hand-eye coordination and understanding of spatial relationships as they worked to design skis that were both fun and functional.
As part of the experience, we created our own ski passes, which means the children now have access to “the Wolve’s Slopes” during the day. The children now know how to check whether the slopes are open or closed by observing the traffic light system: a green sign means the slopes are open for skiing, while a red sign indicates it’s time to take a break. This simple system not only adds excitement to their day but also teaches them responsibility, time management, whilst fostering their independence and understanding of rules in a fun and engaging way.
The next day, our preschoolers were eager to take their first ski lessons from their teachers. They followed instructions carefully, focusing on developing their gross motor skills, maintaining balance, and improving coordination. With each run, the children’s confidence on the slopes grew, reflecting their increasing ability to listen, follow directions, and stay engaged in a new and exciting challenge. This experience not only helped enhance their physical skills but also boosted their sense of achievement as they navigated the slopes with growing independence.
